Australia Climate Change Policy Paris Agreement

The report commissioned by the Australia Institute was released as Australia faces a challenge from at least 100 countries, mostly developing countries, at a UN climate change conference in Madrid, as it plans to use transfer credits under the Kyoto Protocol to meet its 2030 Paris target. There has been some debate about whether Australia`s current policy is sufficient to achieve our Paris goal. Organizations such as the Climate Institute, the Grattan Institute and the Federal Government`s Climate Change Authority believe that achieving the Paris goal requires a strengthened policy framework. Others propose that Australia “comfortably” meet the 2030 target because of public renewable energy programmes. .
