Just wanted to share that my first first-author paper is now online! In the journal Stem Cells and Development, here’s my paper on “Roles of Integrins in Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Growth on Matrigel and Vitronectin.”
Well, at least according to Men’s Health.
Two of the players in our weekly roleplaying sessions have left town now… and then there were five. So, I’m starting to organize efforts to find new gamers in my area to join us. The end result?
Santa Barbara Gaming. A resource to help SB region gamers network and find each other, with a mailing list and such.

Did you know that some psychologists have started diagnosing a condition often referred to as “information addiction” or “Internet addiction” as a psychological disorder? I don’t think I’m there (no 40 hour long marathon online gaming sessions for me, thank you), but I DO read a lot online. Especially my two favorite news sites, SlashDot and Digg. (continued)
I spend quite a bit of my internet time (and mental activity, so it seems) reading, posting, and thinking about roleplaying games. They’ve always been one of my favorite hobbies. This clipping from Housekeeping Monthly in 1955 is tragic, and speaks so much of how our culture has changed in 50 years– and how much could still improve.
That’s what this article claims, in any case. I tend to agree, being the meditative and leisurely guy that I am. What I found most interesting, though, was the throwaway line about the economist Keynes. Apparantly, he recommended shorter workdays as well… I may need to track this down.
No real story here, other than a mildly interesting article and my obsessive-compulsive nature.
