Just wanted to share that my first first-author paper is now online! In the journal Stem Cells and Development, here’s my paper on “Roles of Integrins in Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Growth on Matrigel and Vitronectin.”
Well, now we know the answer to an age-old question . . . thanks to the Tampon Adequacy Measurement Project.
I was riding the bus home with my neighbor Ping yesterday, and she remarked, “I’m surprised you left your bike at work.” I told her that I didn’t ride it yesterday and she expressed worry– she hadn’t seen my bike in the bike rack that morning. Sure enough, my bike has been stolen. (continued)
As many of you have heard, I’m back in business… the roleplaying business that is. The playing of RPG business. Not so much business, I guess. Anyway, I’ve joined the first (of hopefully many) game with these new RPG folk, and I’m playing Exalted. A sailing explorer Eclipse albino, to be exact. Read on if you want to hear his character background that I threw together in about 15 minutes. (continued)
So, it looks like Teisha and I might be moving soon… really soon! Though its price tag is a little high, we’ve fallen in love with a beautiful 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment down the street from us. Update: Photo Gallery Time! (continued)
I was perusing the archives of Damn Interesting, and I came upon a great article that explains why English uses (or at least, used), the male pronouns as the gender-neutral. And it didn’t start until the 1850s. Maybe we should go back to their original solution… Read the article to see what it was. Damn Interesting, indeed.

Edit: I revised my photo Gallery to integrate with the site better, and I’ll be making commeting easier as well. Take that, external service with additional fees!
Alright, I bit the bullet and swallowed some of the “Web 2.0″ kool-aid, so now I have a Flickr Photo Page. Much as I like hosting all my own photos, it is kind of cool to be able to tag and share photos so easily. Give it a look-see, and if you get a Flickr account (or have one already), tell me!
I’m sitting here at work, completely dumb-founded, after I just read that the Bush administration wants to push to renew the American capacity to make nuclear weapons– 125 freaking nukes a year!
I’m shell-shocked. The U.S. just seems doomed to me some days.

Just read a fascinating (if lengthy) essay on disruptive technology and the future of scientific publishing. Well worth the read!
Just wanted to share Mint.com’s Visual Guide to Deflation, which is quite explanatory.
Hey all Paradoxdruid readers! I recently started up a blog on stem cells that I’d love you all to take a look at: http://www.allthingsstemcell.com/
I participated in another Barely literate book review podcast, this time on Nicholson Baker’s “The Fermata”. Give it a listen!
Obama has outlined a strategy for America, in great depth. Read all about Change.gov!
Okay, I’ll admit that it’s entirely possible that I am the last person to learn about this website*, but it’s really addictive.
