Just wanted to share that my first first-author paper is now online! In the journal Stem Cells and Development, here’s my paper on “Roles of Integrins in Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Growth on Matrigel and Vitronectin.”
I finally got around to taking pictures of my new apartment, for all to see. Give them a look-see. Warning: bandwidth intensive (little thumbnails in the post, but fairly large images on which to click) (continued)
So, as almost everyone reading this already knows, I can be a bit of a social gadfly (I’m not handsome enough to be a butterfly, let’s face it). However, I don’t really know anyone in the Santa Barbara region. But neither do the other 15 or so other new BMSE graduate students that are starting to arrive. So I need to arrange a mixer or activity to get things going. (continued)
I think its about time that I write down the crazy shit my co-workers do. Since most people I have enjoyed the stories about the pain that Delightful Delila, I thought I keep a community log so that everyone could share in the joy. I like to call todays story “The blood type and personality factor”
Check out the great music video of the song The Ghost of Stephen Foster by the band The Squirrel Nut Zippers. Like it? (continued)
This is my first attempt at a movie review. Ever. I don’t have a special rating system worked out (stars, grades, etc). I’d love some feedback on things that I could improve, add, change, ditch, etc because I want to keep doing this . . . I just love movies so much. So, yeah . . . enjoy!
You heard me.
I’m starting to move in to my new place, and it’s really, really great. The model apartment I looked at wasn’t this good– I have brand new carpet, paint, sinks, shower-doors, doors, tile, you name it. Plus, all my stuff is gonna fit well. Then again, I’m scared shitless, being in a new town where I don’t know anyone. But I’m trying to keep looking on the bright side.
Man, the car trip here was crazy… (continued)
As of this moment I’m sitting in my parents’ home office, logged on through AOL, surfing the web. This is not what I had planned. According to plan, right now I should be sitting in a hotel room, logged on through CU’s modem pool, surfing the web.
In other words, I haven’t left on my move to California yet. We needed to hang around today because by grandfather, Robert Bonham, is dying. (continued)
So, as soon as I posted the news that Greg Stolze’s book “Godwalker” was available, I surfed over to PayPal and ordered it. Fifteen minutes later, I received an e-mail from Greg himself, informing me that I was the first sale! (continued)
If anyone hasn’t seen I’m a Cow, it’s high time they did!
On a side note, anyone with an account can post to this column as well by selecting “Category: linkdump” when posting an entry. (continued)

Just read a fascinating (if lengthy) essay on disruptive technology and the future of scientific publishing. Well worth the read!
Just wanted to share Mint.com’s Visual Guide to Deflation, which is quite explanatory.
Hey all Paradoxdruid readers! I recently started up a blog on stem cells that I’d love you all to take a look at: http://www.allthingsstemcell.com/
I participated in another Barely literate book review podcast, this time on Nicholson Baker’s “The Fermata”. Give it a listen!
Obama has outlined a strategy for America, in great depth. Read all about Change.gov!
Okay, I’ll admit that it’s entirely possible that I am the last person to learn about this website*, but it’s really addictive.
