Just wanted to share that my first first-author paper is now online! In the journal Stem Cells and Development, here’s my paper on “Roles of Integrins in Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Growth on Matrigel and Vitronectin.”
Futurama may be returning to TV
I’d heard a rumor like this less than a month ago from Billy West (voice of Fry and others), but after he reported it on his site, David Cohen and others said that it was untrue . . . so either this a new round of rumors (and maybe it’s true! I hope!), or the last batch isn’t quite dead.
ShortSpeedFreak - May 8th, 2006 at 7:50 amIf you visit Can’t Get Enough Futurama, the premiere Futurama website, you’ll see that CNN is, to put it gently, smoking a big fat bowl of crack. Spot on, Shortspeedfreak.
But! There will be four straight-to-DVD Futurama movies made. That’s like 10 new episodes. So all is not lost, after all.
And I so wished I had been wrong.
Somebody has a birthday today…..
(Yea, I would have made a new thread, but I’m technologically challenged
)
Awwww…. but who could it be? *looks around with shifty eyes*

Fleep - August 1st, 2006 at 9:10 am[...] As many of you clearly know, today’s Andrew’s 25th Birthday! So… !!! So, if you click here you can see other people commenting on how it’s his birthday (at the bottom).. but on a different thread I thought I’d start an independent post. For the curious, Andrew’s mostly going to celebrate next week when his parents visit, especially since he’ll probably be done writing his 20-page Candidacy Exam by then. However, tonight we’ll be doing some role-playing (almost as good as Water World?), eating cake and cupcakes with friends, and he’ll be unwrapping some presents. He’s also wearing a “Birthday Boy” pin (home-made) to the class he’s teaching to get some special harassment Make sure to harass him too if you’d like… I know he really likes the attention… August 1st, 2006 | teisha | [...]

Just read a fascinating (if lengthy) essay on disruptive technology and the future of scientific publishing. Well worth the read!
Just wanted to share Mint.com’s Visual Guide to Deflation, which is quite explanatory.
Hey all Paradoxdruid readers! I recently started up a blog on stem cells that I’d love you all to take a look at: http://www.allthingsstemcell.com/
I participated in another Barely literate book review podcast, this time on Nicholson Baker’s “The Fermata”. Give it a listen!
Obama has outlined a strategy for America, in great depth. Read all about Change.gov!
Okay, I’ll admit that it’s entirely possible that I am the last person to learn about this website*, but it’s really addictive.
It’s a game that tests your vocabulary. Each time you get a word’s meaning correct, 20 grains of rice are donated to the UN World Program. So, give Free Rice a whirl. I bet you’ll have fun and you’ll get to help make strides toward ending hunger.
*I heard about it forever ago, I just never actually looked at it.
