X-Mas is coming!

I’m a lucky human being. I have my health, great friends and family, and I see potential in the future. Which means, for me, X-Mas is relegated to asking for shiny baubles which I certainly don’t need, but some of which I surely want. So, let’s discuss the gifts we want, why not?

    Here’s my list:
  • New Cargo Pants (beige or khaki green, size: 33/32)
  • DVD Simpsons: The Complete Sixth Season
  • DVD- Batman Begins (widescreen if possible)
  • DVD- X-Men 2
  • Half-Life 2 (computer game)
  • new 30GB iPod (a.k.a. iPod Video) (white)
  • Transhuman Space Broken Dreams (roleplaying book)
  • Myst V End of Ages (computer game)
  • iTunes music store gift certificate

What gifts have you salivating like a Pavlovian doggie?

ooo! There’s another Myst game?

I’d be careful about that iTunes gift certificate. I read in this months PCWorld a horror story about a gal that was given $100 iTunes goodness. iTunes deducted $20 for two albuums, but she got error messages instead of music. Her mom never heard back from tech support - and it was only when the editor for PCworld complained to PR that they resolved the matter; and that was 4 months after the incident occured.

I should add that I wouldn’t know if this is freak occurance or not, b/c i don’t use iTunes nor any other subscription based music service. just an FYI - for what its worth.

So, Myst game probably good, iTunes gift certificate maybe bad. What else do people want, or have forewarnings for? I know it’s probably going to be a big one this season, but I heard the Xbox 360 really isn’t all that revolutionary (more on that from PD!?).

Howdy hey Druid,

If you’d pass along a hint at when you’ll be back in Denver during this the Yuletide season, it would be much appreciated by both the masses and myself.

Civ4, but Jenny says I’m not allowed to play it until I can hear her come home (the door is downstairs. I need a security magnet beeping thingy).

Also, a 40″ rapier, a 30″ rapier, a dagger, a pair of gloves, a neck guard (actually, two), gauntlets, and a 9′ fiberglass pole. But these are all the sort of thing that nobody can buy for me but me, so I’m gonna have to be gauche and ask for money. “I will send you a picture of what you bought me,” or something to that effect. Because, really, there’s not a whole lot in the world that I want right now except stuff to injure other people with.

I want a Baby Wolf, four shaft floor loom. I want bobbins and a bobbin winder, an umbrella swift (maybe), a mini-fridge, boat shuttles, a warping board OR a warping mill OR a set of warping pegs. And yarn. And lots of weaving books.

Also, I want a second cat tree for the cats. And more Christmas decorations. And more Christmas CDs. And to be able to knit faster.

Though, as with Owen’s stuff, the loom stuff has to be something I purchase myself. And only people without tacky taste can buy decorations for me. ;)

Free Rice

Okay, I’ll admit that it’s entirely possible that I am the last person to learn about this website*, but it’s really addictive.  It’s a game that tests your vocabulary.  Each time you get a word’s meaning correct, 20 grains of rice are donated to the UN World Program.  So, give Free Rice a whirl.  I bet you’ll have fun and you’ll get to help make strides toward ending hunger.

*I heard about it forever ago, I just never actually looked at it.

Security Cam Music Video

This band decided they didn’t have money to make a video, so they set up in public places in view of security cameras, then asked to get the footage from the people.

Pretty cool results, though a little creepy to think how much these cameras are around.

A news story about it is here

Some Frogs and Toads are just weird…

Thanks to one of my favorites blogs, Zooillogix, I recently got to see toads giving live birth from their back and frogs without lungs. I must say, amphibians are weird! But do those frogs really count as amphibians…? And honestly, those toads gross me out a bit — and that’s hard for biology to do to me!
