Speaking of random, weird stuff that attracts small occult followings — if you haven’t heard about the followers of the Followers of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (‘His Noodleness’), known as the Pastafarians, you should check them out. Here’s the latest on the Pastafarians and a miracle sandwich touched by His noodley appendage sold on Ebay for $41.00.
The promotion of the religion was originally done in a letter to fight the Kansas School Board’s teaching of intelligent design in classrooms (first link), and it actually has a connection to today’s significance — the author shows a clear correlation between the global average temperature Vs. the number of pirates, clear testimony to the power of His Noodleness. (Yes, it’s a stretch, but I’ve been wanting to post a link to this thing for a while on here for the pure entertainment.)
Teisha - September 19th, 2005 at 8:40 pmVerily, I have been touched by his noodly appendage. I love FSM! Such a scathing parody, and so much fun. I may have to get a T-shirt.
In other news, I’m doing my part to fight global warming– this weekend I’ll be going to a renaissance/pirate festival, and increasing the world supply of grown men who say “Arr, matey”. Hehe.

Just read a fascinating (if lengthy) essay on disruptive technology and the future of scientific publishing. Well worth the read!
Just wanted to share Mint.com’s Visual Guide to Deflation, which is quite explanatory.
Hey all Paradoxdruid readers! I recently started up a blog on stem cells that I’d love you all to take a look at: http://www.allthingsstemcell.com/
I participated in another Barely literate book review podcast, this time on Nicholson Baker’s “The Fermata”. Give it a listen!
Obama has outlined a strategy for America, in great depth. Read all about Change.gov!
Okay, I’ll admit that it’s entirely possible that I am the last person to learn about this website*, but it’s really addictive.
It’s a game that tests your vocabulary. Each time you get a word’s meaning correct, 20 grains of rice are donated to the UN World Program. So, give Free Rice a whirl. I bet you’ll have fun and you’ll get to help make strides toward ending hunger.
*I heard about it forever ago, I just never actually looked at it.
